Big Zone Bulletproof EAA's
All 9 essential amino acids - the new Bulletproof EAAs
The human body needs 20 different amino acids to synthesize proteins, which are necessary for building muscle mass and other tissues. Of these 20, we can produce 11 ourselves from other amino acids if necessary. However, our body cannot synthesize 9 amino acids itself, which is why they are considered essential amino acids, or EAAs for short.

It is well known that proteins play a key role in building and maintaining muscle mass. However, proteins are also involved in other functions in our body. For example, enzymes and some hormones are made up of protein structures. They are found in the immune system and all tissues in our body and, as a component of the blood, are involved in the transport of nutrients.

Most of us certainly cover the majority of our daily protein requirements through a protein-rich diet, which also includes protein powders such as Battle Whey or Battle Vegan. Dietary proteins generally provide all 20 proteinogenic amino acids and are therefore ideal for the majority of amino acid supplies.

It's no secret that intensive strength training promotes muscle building. The training stimulus causes an increase in muscle protein synthesis, in which amino acids are assembled into new proteins. At the same time, however, training also initially causes an increased breakdown of muscle protein. In order to build muscle mass, the rate of muscle protein synthesis must exceed the rate of muscle protein breakdown.

Studies suggest that consuming a rapidly digestible protein source such as whey protein after training optimizes the anabolic processes after training by increasing muscle protein synthesis. Further studies have also observed that only the 9 EAAs, but not the remaining 11 proteinogenic amino acids, are able to stimulate muscle protein synthesis.

For this reason, and due to the fact that we can produce all other relevant amino acids from the 9 EAAs if needed, bodybuilders have been using EAAs during training for several years to shift the increased protein turnover during intensive workouts in their favor. In addition, unlike complete proteins, EAAs do not have to be digested first, but can be absorbed directly from the intestine into the blood. One study, for example, observed that amino acid levels peak after just 20 minutes of taking free EAAs.

The Bulletproof EAAs were therefore developed with the intention of supplying the muscles with amino acids during hard and intensive training.

All 9 essential amino acids instead of just 8
Most EAA products on the market contain 8 essential amino acids. The reason for this is that even in biology classes today we learn that 8 amino acids are essential for the body instead of 9. However, the 9th essential amino acid, histidine, is missing in most products.

This fact goes back to a mistake made by the then American Research Council in 1968. In a paper on the recommended daily amounts of nutrients, they forgot to classify histidine as essential, although earlier data had already concluded that histidine was one of them.

Due to the confusion among experts, several more studies were carried out with the result that histidine is clearly essential. But to date, this has done little to change the false assumption of many people that there are 8 EAAs. The Bulletproof EAAs also did not contain histidine for a long time. But that is now over. From now on, our product contains a guaranteed complete amino acid profile, which has been confirmed by external laboratory analyses.

Electrolytes for better hydration
Not only nutrients are of great importance during training, but also the supply of fluids. On the one hand, we sweat during physical activity, and on the other hand, strength training causes an acute increase in fluid accumulation in the muscles. This is the popular "pump effect". A solution of electrolytes and carbohydrates can increase the absorption of fluids during training.

For this reason, we decided to supplement the Bulletproof EAAs with electrolytes. Additional carbohydrates can then be added, for example in the form of cluster dextrin.

How should Bulletproof EAAs be taken?
Studies have observed that taking 9 to 15 grams of EAAs around training leads to a higher net nitrogen balance. One serving of Bulletproof EAAs (18 g) provides 10 g of pure EAAs. Depending on body weight and duration of training, the dosage should therefore be between 1 and 1.5 servings (18 - 27 g) during training.

Alternatively, you can supplement meals with a lower protein content or poor protein quality with Bulletproof EAAs. Depending on your needs, the amount should be between 1 and 2 servings (18 - 36 g). Bulletproof EAAs come from plant sources and are therefore suitable as a supplement to a vegan diet.
