The new Big Zone Shelter
If you don't move with the times, you'll be left behind. And so we also try to constantly adapt our formula to the latest scientific findings, trends and legal requirements. Who wants products that are no longer up to date? We always try to be the best and offer you state-of-the-art products, which is why we have given our popular pre-workout booster, the Shelter, a makeover.

The new BigZone Shelter now relies even more on the synergies between the individual ingredients to make what's inside even more effective.

What exactly is inside?
L-Citrulline DL-Malate

Nowadays, citrulline is a must in any booster. The amino acid has a key function in our organism and serves as a precursor to arginine, which in turn can be converted into nitric oxide (NO). NO, in turn, has the task of promoting the vasodilation of blood vessels, i.e. widening them. This is intended to increase blood flow and thus the pumping effect.

The reason why we use citrulline in our BigZone Shelter instead of using arginine directly is that studies have observed that taking citrulline increases the arginine level in the blood more than taking arginine itself. The reason for this is that citrulline is better absorbed through the intestines and that it is less broken down by the liver through the so-called first-pass effect.

By using L-citrulline, more substrate is available in the blood to efficiently promote the pump effect.

L-Tyrosine
L-tyrosine is another important amino acid in our metabolism and is involved, for example, in the synthesis of thyroid hormones and also serves as a precursor of dopamine as well as adrenaline and noradrenaline.

Studies have shown that taking L-tyrosine before training not only reduced the perception of stress, but also increased alertness and thus improved training performance, especially under extreme conditions.

Guarana extract
Guarana is a natural source of caffeine in which the stimulant is bound to natural plant substances and is therefore released into the blood more slowly. Almost 150 mg of the total 399.6 mg of caffeine in the BigZone Shelter comes from guarana and ensures a constant effect even during longer training sessions, without a sudden drop.

OxyStorm®
OxyStorm® is a patented amaranth extract that has a high content of natural nitrates. Studies have shown that natural nitrates can increase blood flow and thus increase the pump effect. Researchers have also observed a reduction in blood pressure and an improvement in the work capacity of athletes when taken.

L-theanine from green tea extract
Studies have observed that the amino acid L-theanine has calming effects without causing drowsiness. Studies have also observed that it can reduce the subjective perception of stress and thus also have significant adaptogenic effects.

Furthermore, recent study reviews show that L-theanine may act synergistically with caffeine and that the two substances in combination improve attention, cognitive performance and subjective perception of mental fatigue more than both substances considered in isolation.
caffeine
Caffeine is probably THE core element of any workout booster. In fact, it is also one of the few effective stimulants that are even approved in dietary supplements and is undoubtedly the most widely consumed stimulant in the world. It not only helps to increase alertness, but also concentration.

The mechanism of action is based on the fact that caffeine blocks the receptors for adenosine. Adenosine serves as a signal molecule in our body, which is supposed to signal tiredness to our brain so that we rest. If its receptors are blocked, the signal for tiredness is no longer transmitted and, to put it simply, we simply stay awake.

For this reason, studies have also observed that caffeine in an amount of 3 to 6 mg per kilogram of body weight increases strength performance and work capacity during strength training. BigZone Shelter contains almost 400 mg of combined synthetic and natural caffeine per serving, the maximum permitted amount. For most athletes, this amount should correspond to the amount of 3 to 6 mg/kg.

Cognizin®
Cognizin® is a patented raw material that provides citicoline, also known as CDP-choline. This substance consists of cytosine and phosphocholine and is split in the body into choline and cytosine. The cytosine is then later split into uridine, which plays an important role in our central nervous system.

The choline from the Cognizin® in the BigZone Shelter, in turn, serves the brain as a basic substance for the production of acetylcholine, an important neurotransmitter that plays an important role in the ability to concentrate and cognitive performance.

L-Norvaline
Contrary to what the name suggests, L-Norvaline is not an analogue of the amino acid valine, but of isoleucine. L-Norvaline is able to inhibit the enzyme arginase and thus reduce the breakdown of arginine in the blood. This means that more arginine is available in the blood to be converted into nitric oxide by the enzyme NO synthase. We used it in the BigZone Shelter with the intention of synergistically supporting the effectiveness of L-citrulline.
Pine bark extract
The main active ingredient in pine bark extract is a series of proanthocyanidins. They have been shown to increase the activity of the enzyme NO synthase and thus increase the conversion production of nitric oxide. Pine bark extract therefore represents another potentially synergistic substance in the BigZone Shelter pump matrix.

KannaEase®
KannaEase® is a patented raw material from a traditional South African medicinal plant called Sceletium Tortuosum, also known as “Kanna”. According to studies, this plant is said to improve mood and the ability to concentrate, among other things, which we believe can only be beneficial for productive training.
Black pepper extract
Black pepper, or rather the piperine it contains, is known to promote the bioavailability of various substances. Scientific studies suggest that piperine supports the effect of the amino acids contained in BigZone Shelter and the pine bark extract, among other things, and could therefore contribute to an improved effect.

Vitamin B6
Like all vitamins, vitamin B6 is also an important co-factor for the activation of metabolic processes. Strictly speaking, vitamin B6 is involved in over 100 metabolic reactions in our body. One of these, which we wanted to take advantage of in the BigZone Shelter, is the conversion of the amino acid L-tyrosine into dopamine and later into adrenaline and noradrenaline by the enzyme L-dopa decarboxylase.

How do I take the BigZone Shelter?

As a pre-workout booster, BigZone Shelter should be taken around 30 minutes before training. One serving corresponds to 15 g of powder, or 1 level measuring spoon, in 500 ml of water.
